A rhetoric of woe

Truth sings
sometimes dances, too
it laughs and never
pretends to
even when it mocks us
image-makers
hell-bent
on telling
untrue stories
in litanies
of propositions,
dirges
that do not delight.

Truth is a Comic
messing around
with the most cherished
somber masters of our sorrows
unmasking them
with frivolous pranks, frolics, and japes
to free us
from Myopia
which meets
at the Grand Inquisition
of joy
when God says,
‘It is
all good.’
